In the DE safety razor world, there's only been 2 razor and blade combos that I can actually compare to a straight razor shave and one of them is listed below. Phoenix Artisan Accoutrement's double open comb razor which is a bit of a sleeper and leaves nothing behind and yet it's mild and comfortable to use. The ONLY blade that seems to work best for me in this specific razor is the Feather DE blades. Now in the past, this was the only razor I could use a Feather DE blade in besides a twist to open style razor which was just before my beard started getting a lot tougher like it is now:
The other blade and razor combo is the Merkur 37C Slant & Perma-Sharp blades which is also equal to a straight razor shave for me. Those are my best blade & razor combos that you will see me go for quite often when I don't have time for a straight razor shave and need to be some where. Or if I'm traveling to some place like UVA or if given the chance, a meet up which I've not done yet.
