Mach 3 = No Hone:

This ended up being a mistake. While I had great success in honing the new Gillette Proshield cartridge, I failed at honing the Mach 3 cartridges:


Everything looked like it was going great when I first started with my Suehiro mighty mini and even as I progressed through the Apache Strata & finished on my Shoubandini type 100, I saw no signs of what was about to happen which I will let you know at the end of this post:


Even during stropping I didn't notice a thing either which is weird because here is usually where I find out if I made a mistake or not and I didn't get any indication of that while stropping:


This happened right when I went put the clear plastic protective cover on:


The metal tabs on the sides of the blades that hold them in can't handle the stress of honing using buffing strokes like I was tonight. I suppose I could try "X" strokes next time but I personally think that this is pointless with these specific blades. Those metal tabs came loose and the next thing I know, both of these Mach 3 cartridges are ruined. Thankfully these are affordable compared to the new ones that are out there. You can get 5 of these for around $10 U.S. Dollars.
