208 got the Stones:

After today's shave that I posted earlier, I went ahead and put some extra time into touching up my gold dollar 208 like I did with my 66. I'm also about to eliminate using electrical tape while honing my own razors. But with that being said, I went ahead and got started:

First I went ahead and soaked the stone. Now this is a combo stone and the directions state that the 4K side requires soaking. But the directions also say that the 8K side does NOT require soaking which is a bit weird in my humble opinion. Since you have to soak the 4K side any way, you might as well soak the entire stone so that's what I did:

I did 100 seconds on each side followed by 15 "X" strokes and my usual 10 round trips to clean up the edge. This is what I did on my Gold Dollar 66 straight razor and it made a world of a difference in the shave. Next I did my usual stropping routine which is 5 round trips on the scrub leather and 15 round trips on the smooth leather. I already know how well it's going to shave because I did the same thing with my 66. Now in reference to the electrical tape earlier, I pulled the tape off before going to the 8k side of my Norton water stone. The edge looked perfect under the glass.

Gusto & Integrity:

Today is Soap Commander Sunday and I got thirsty after today's shave as well. Normally it would also be DE Sunday, but I'm participating in an event which is Gold Dollar Awareness month which involves using a Gold Dollar straight razor for the entire month of October. Today's shave was fantastic and a true BBS shave. However it's time to break out the Norton Combo stone I have and touch up the edge a tiny bit which will be another post later on:

Another Soap Down:

Well that's my 6th soap this year that I'm about to finish off. I've been going through product like crazy here lately. So far the smaller tins of PAA have been epic and are working very well for me. So my next order at PAA might be a huge one:

PAA's ClubGuy & Clubman:

Today's shave was fabulous and very refreshing. My Gold Dollar 66 is doing extremely well. That extra time I spent on the Norton 4/8K combo stone was well worth it:

Even though I enjoy the balm very much so, I decided at the last minute to use a little bit of Pinaud's Clubman regular formula aftershave today: 

I'm thinking about sending both of my razors out to be re-honed with a jnat edge again in the near future. That is unless my insurance claim comes through for me which is unknown when that will occur. When it does, I'll definitely be investing in a full set of stones.

C.a.D & American Blend:

Today is Friday so that means either a PAA or Crown King product gets used. So for today's shave, PAA's C.a.D was used (1980's Barbersol scent) along with Fine's American Blend aftershave. It was also a true BBS shave as well. I've been getting a lot of true BBS shaves with my straight razors, but for some reason I don't get them that often at all with a DE safety razor which should tell you why I prefer a straight razor over a DE:

Another Soap Down:

I believe that I should be called "The Soap Sniper" of wet shaving because I'm about to finish off yet another soap which will be my 5th soap this past year alone. Why the term "The Soap Sniper" do you ask? It's because I finish off a soap one at a time:

RazoRock Triple X:

Today's shave was epic and past comfortable. It's also Thursday which means a RazoRock product gets used and Triple X was up next in the rotation so I used that and it was phenomenal. The extra time on the honing stone is worth it. My 208 is still extremely good and now my 66 is just as good as my 208. I'm glad I spent that extra time on my Norton 4/8K combo stone. I still will be getting an ILR 12 to 15K finishing stone which will be great:

If I can swing it, I'll also be getting a 1K stone as well.
