Knowing When To Quit 101:

It wasn't that long ago when I was seeing a few new guys over in the Face Book groups asking and getting frustrated as to why they can't get a true BBS when they shave and I've also seen a lot of them getting severe irritation and even some quitting and going back to the cartridge system for a while. The one problem I kept seeing them stating in the comments section is that they're making numerous passes to try and get clean and smooth. Here's the secret to getting a true BBS DON'T CHASE IT. I almost NEVER go for 3 passes with a straight razor and if I use a DE, I only do 2 formal passes at the most with some touch ups and call it quits. Knowing when to quit and not chasing the BBS, usually achieves an epic shave that can be dubbed as a "BBS shave". The cartridge system is extremely expensive and is very hard on your skin. Depending on which cartridge you're using, it can equal up to 6 passes (1 for each blade basically) and you're NOT just cutting hair either. You are actually completely removing the ENTIRE top layer of skin in addition to your hair. That's why the skin is so smooth and very sensitive if not irritated in the form of razor burn. It also can cause ingrown hairs and other skin problems such as acne as well. This problem usually occurs with people that are new to the hobby of wet shaving. So if you're new to this hobby my advice would be to slow down, take your time and know when to quit despite what others may tell you. This B.S. about having to make multiple passes to get a "true BBS" is ridiculous in my humble opinion. Another tip that I can give to the new guys is to do what's best for you and your skin. If a product such as a soap or an aftershave doesn't agree with you DON'T USE IT. If people get upset at this, them tell them to get lost or even block them if need be. I've seen this too many times and it's past childish. If you don't like it when I don't like something or if it causes me problems, tough rocks.
